About Dr Michael Braude

Michael is a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist who takes pride in providing compassionate, patient-centred care. Michael studied medicine at the University of Melbourne and completed basic physician training at St Vincent’s Hospital. He progressed to Gastroenterology training at Austin and Eastern Health, gaining a breadth of specialist experience. Michael subsequently completed a PhD through Monash Health and Monash University. His research focused on fatty liver disease prognosis and on liver disease in people with mental health issues has been published in local and international peer-reviewed journals.

Michael holds a public consultant appointment at Monash Health where he leads the metabolic fatty liver disease clinic. He is a primary investigator on multi-centre international liver clinical trials. Michael is also passionate about teaching, and is an adjunct senior lecturer at Monash University, where he teaches medical students and supervises trainee physicians.

Michael manages a range of Gastroenterological issues, including liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and irritable bowel syndrome.  Michael performs Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy, including polypectomy, as well as Fibroscan. 

When not at work, Michael can be found chasing (or being chased) by his 3 young children.

Michael is committed to ensuring comprehensive patient care and is happy to be contacted by referring health practitioners to discuss patient needs.
